Sermon: Jesus heals a man possessed by devils (Luke 8:26-39)

26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in [any] house, but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
34 When they that fed [them] saw what was done, they fled, and went and told [it] in the city and in the country.
35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
36 They also which saw [it] told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
Luke 8:26-39
26 ¶ 그들이 갈릴리 맞은편의 가다라 사람들의 지방에 도착하니라.
27 그분께서 뭍으로 나아가실 때에 어떤 남자가 그 도시에서 나와 그분을 만났는데 그는 오랫동안 마귀들에 들려 옷도 입지 아니하고 집에 거하지도 아니하며 무덤들 안에 거하더라.
28 그가 예수님을 보고 부르짖으며 그분 앞에 엎드려 큰 소리로 이르되, 지극히 높으신 [하나님]의 [아들] 예수님이여, 내가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있나이까? 간청하건대 나를 괴롭게 하지 마옵소서, 하니
29 (이는 그분께서 이미 그 부정한 영에게 명령하사 그 사람에게서 나오게 하셨기 때문이라. 그 영이 자주 그를 사로잡으므로 그를 사슬과 족쇄에 묶어 두었으나 그가 묶은 것을 끊고 그 마귀에게 몰려 광야로 나갔더라.)
30 예수님께서 그에게 물어 이르시되, 네 이름은 무엇이냐? 하시매 그가 이르되, 군단이니이다, 하니 이는 많은 마귀들이 그에게 들어갔기 때문이더라.
31 그들이 그분께 간청하여 그분께서 깊음 속으로 들어가라고 자기들에게 명령하지 마실 것을 구하더라.
32 거기에 많은 돼지 떼가 산 위에서 먹고 있었으므로 그들이 그분께 간청하여 그분께서 자기들을 그 돼지들 속으로 들어가게 허락하실 것을 구하매 그분께서 그들을 허락하신즉
33 이에 마귀들이 그 사람에게서 나와 돼지들 속으로 들어가니 그 떼가 경사진 곳을 세차게 내리달아 호수에 빠져 숨 막혀 죽으니라.
34 돼지를 치던 자들이 이루어진 일을 보고 도망하여 가서 그 도시와 지방에서 그것을 고하니라.
35 그때에 그들이 이루어진 일을 보러 와서 예수님께 이르러 몸속에서 마귀들이 나간 그 사람이 바른 정신으로 옷을 입고 예수님의 발 앞에 앉은 것을 보고는 두려워하더라.
36 그것을 본 자들도 마귀들에게 사로잡혔던 자가 어떤 방법으로 고침을 받았는지 그들에게 말하더라.
37 ¶ 이에 가다라 사람들의 지방 주변의 온 무리가 큰 두려움에 사로잡혔으므로 그분께 간청하여 자기들에게서 떠나실 것을 구하더라. 그분께서 배에 들어가 다시 돌아가시는데
38 이제 몸속에서 마귀들이 나간 그 사람이 그분께 간청하여 자기가 그분과 함께 있을 것을 구하였으나 예수님께서 그를 보내시며 이르시되,
39 네 집으로 돌아가 [하나님]께서 너를 위해 얼마나 큰일들을 행하셨는지 보이라, 하시매 그가 자기 길로 가서 예수님께서 자기를 위해 얼마나 큰일들을 행하셨는지 온 도시에 두루 알리니라.
