OUR Church Covenant 우리 교회의 서약
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour; and on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost; we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
믿는 바, 하나님의 영에 의해 인도되어 예수 그리스도를 구주로 받아들였으며, 믿음의 고백 위에서 성부, 성자, 성령의 이름으로 침례를 받은 우리는 하나님과 천사들, 그리고 이 회중 앞에서 그리스도 안에서 한 몸으로서 가장 엄숙하고 기쁜 마음으로 서로에게 서약하는 바이다.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spreading of the Gospel through all nations.
그러므로 우리는, 성령의 도움을 받아, 기독교인의 사랑 안에서 동행할 것을 서약한다. – 지식과 거룩함과 위로 안에서 본 교회의 발전을 위하여 노력하고, 교회 부흥과 영성을 증진시키며, 예배와 규례, 징계와 교리를 지키며, 선교활동의 지원, 교회의 비용, 빈자의 구제, 그리고 온 민족에게 복음을 전파하는 일에 기쁜 마음을 가지고 정기적으로 기여한다.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to educate our children in the Christian faith; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our demeanor; to avoid all tattling, back-biting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks; to abstain from all activities contrary to our Biblical faith as
stated in the following constitution; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.
또한 우리는 가족에게 헌신하며 남모르게 헌신할 것을 서약한다. – 그리스도인의 믿음 안에서 자녀들을 교육하고, 친족과 지인들의 구원에 힘쓰며, 세상 속에서 신중하게 걸으며, 거래에 있어서 정직하며, 약속에 있어서 신실하며, 품행에 있어서 모범이 되어야 한다. 고자질, 험담 그리고 지나친 화를 피하며, 취하게 하는 음료의 판매와 사용을 금하며, 교회 헌법에 명시되어 있는 우리의 성경적 믿음과 상반되는 모든 활동을 삼가며, 구세주의 왕국을 진전케 하는 모든 노력에 열과 성을 다한다.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
더 나아가 우리는 형제애로서 서로를 돌보아줄 것을 서약한다. – 기도할 때에 서로를 기억하며, 병중이 나 고난 중에 있을 때 서로를 도우며, 그리스도인의 연민의 정과 정중한 말씨를 양성하며, 화내기를 더디하는 한편, 항상 화해할 준비를 하고 지체 없이 화해가 이루어질 수 있도록 우리 구주의 규율을 염두에 두고 생활한다.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
이에 덧붙여 우리는 다른 곳으로 옮길 경우, 가능한 한 빨리 이 서약의 정신과 하나님 말씀의 원칙들을 실행할 수 있는 다른 교회와 접촉할 것을 서약한다.
