Key Theme: Believers are to be stewards of the mysteries of God.
Good morning everyone.
Let us do a quick review of what we have learned so far.
- God was manifest in the flesh [1 Timothy 3:16].
- If you are saved, you have Christ in you, the hope of glory [Colossians 1:26-27].
- When you are saved, you join together as the body of Christ [Ephesians 5: 25-32]. It is only possible through a new birth when you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
- The Lord Jesus Christ Himself will come back and take saved believers both dead and alive to heaven with him. It is a future event not yet happened. It will happen before the starting of the Great Tribulation [1 Thessalonians 4:16-17].
Our key scripture for this series is from [1 Corinthians 4:1-2].
As believers, the Lord expects us to be stewards of His mysteries that He has revealed to us in the Bible.
Keep them and teach them.
Let us read it together.
1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
The Restoration of Israel
There is wrong teaching these days saying that God is done with the nation of Israel.
It teaches that the church has replaced the nation of Israel.
This teaching is known as “Replacement Theology.”
We need to be careful about this.
God never forgets His chosen people, the nation of Israel.
Let us go to [Romans 11: 25].
Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
The Bible says
… that blindness in part is happened to Israel…
Israel is a blinded nation.
One of the greatest advantages of the Jew is that they have the word of God.
Let us read [Romans 3:1-2].
Romans 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
Romans 3:2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.
God gave them the law. They also have prophets.
As God’s chosen nation, Israel should have noticed that the Lord Jesus Christ was their Messiah when He came to this world over 2,000 years ago.
They missed it!
They rejected and crucified Him.
This blindness will not be forever because one day the Lord will go back and deal with the nation of Israel to fulfill all of what He has said in the Bible.
The scripture also says
… until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in…
The Church Age (the time of the Gentiles) concludes with the Rapture of the Church.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
When the Rapture of the Church occurs, it then marks the beginning of the Great Tribulation.
The nation of Israel will be restored but not until they go through the Great Tribulation.
The Great Tribulation is the time of God’s wrath upon the earth.
It is also known as Jacob’s trouble [Jeremiah 30:7], and Daniel’s 70th week [Daniel 9:24].
However, God does not intend for the church to go through the Great Tribulation.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
During the Great Tribulation, people in the nation of Israel will have been destroyed.
However, there will be the believing remnant of Israel which will turn to God.
Then the Lord will come in glorious power. The remnant of the nation will acknowledge their sinful unbelief.
They will repent before their Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
God will then restore the nation of Israel during the Millennial Kingdom of Christ reigned on the earth.
