Key Theme: believers are to be stewards of the mysteries of God.

Good morning everyone.
Welcome to Sunday School.
Today we will begin a new study series titled “The Mysteries of God.”
This lesson is foundational.
As Bible believers, it is essential to have the fundamental things right first.
We need to thank God for His perfect and pure word in the Bible.
Without the Bible, we have no standard that we can trust.
God will never lie. Whatever He says in the Bible will come to pass.
God will fulfill everything He says in the Bible.
All right, our key verse for this study series is from [1 Corinthians 4:1-2].
I invite all of us to please read it aloud together.
1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
We are to be
…stewards of the mysteries of God.
There are two things that we need to understand.
First of all, what is a “steward”?
A “steward” is a manager or overseer.
He is a person who needs to take care of whatsoever has been given to him.
Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote to the Corinthians that he had a duty to deliver God’s message to the people.
In other words, apostle Paul was to be a steward by telling people of what God has revealed to him.
Next, the word “mystery” means secret through the idea of silence.
It is something that is not made known yet.
Those things were then revealed in the New Testament.
God was manifest in the flesh
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
When we read this scripture, we can see clearly that
…God was manifest in the flesh.
The Bible tells us that God took the form of a human body, came down and lived among us!
Next let us read [1 John 5:20].
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Who is this true God?
What did the Bible say?
He is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Your Savior.
He is the one who created you.
He loved you so much that He came to die and to pay for your sin.
Now I invite you to think.
The Lord Himself does not belong here on the earth.
He has His throne of glory.
Where?
In heaven.
He has the Seraphim and Cherubim flying around praising Him.
Holy, Holy, Holy.
But God took the form of a human body.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.
He was born of a virgin birth.
Now we need to stop here for a little bit.
Sometimes we tend to overly focus on the divine nature of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Then we overlook His humanity.
The Lord Jesus Christ was without sins.
No doubt about that.
He was God-Man.
When He was born, He had to be fed too.
He had to learn how to walk, to talk and to read.
God was manifest in the flesh. Why?
Quick answer.
To deal and settle the issue of sin.
The first man God ever created violated one simple command [Genesis 2:17].
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God gave a straightforward command for Adam to obey.
… thou shalt not eat of it.
Adam did eat anyway.
As a result of disobedience, Adam died both physically and spiritually
.…thou shalt surely die.
God still kept His Word.
Our world is cursed since that day.
Let us read [Romans 5:12].
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Sin has affected the whole world.
Sin has affected all of us.
We are all sinners!
Next let us read a consequence of sin in [Romans 6:23].
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin isdeath; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
A wage is what you earn from doing work.
The word of God is obvious here
.… the wages of sin is death.
Sin will result in death.
God still keeps His word.
All of us cannot escape death.
Again, the same verse in [Romans 6:23] offers a solution to this.
There is no other way.
…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Next let us read [Hebrews 9:22].
Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
The remission of sin is to be done through the shedding of blood.
This explained to us why the Lord needed to take the form of a human body, died and shed His blood at the cross.
… without shedding of blood is no remission.
God Himself has done the toughest part so that we all can be saved through the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ.
This precious gift is still available today.
Lastly, let us read [1 Corinthians 3:18].
1 Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
The world will continue to mock Christianity.
The world will continue to attack Christianity.
The world will always say it is foolish to just trust only in Jesus and what He did on the cross to pay for the penalty of sin.
The world calls our belief foolishness.
May I encourage you today?
If you are saved and have decided to trust in the finished work at the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ and to have Him as your personal Savior, the Bible says that you are wise.
You may not always make the right decision in your lives.
If there is one most important decision to make today that you will not regret for all eternity, it is to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
Admit that you are a sinner.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Confess (ask) Him to save you.
Please make the right decision today!
May the Lord please help us.
