Luke 1:5-185 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife [was] of the daughters of Aaron, and her name [was] Elisabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were [now] well stricken in years.
8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,
9 According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
12 And when Zacharias saw [him], he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
5 ¶ 유대 왕 헤롯 시대에 아비야 계열에 사가랴라는 이름을 가진 어떤 제사장이 있었는데 그의 아내는 아론의 딸들에게 속하였고 그녀의 이름은 엘리사벳이더라.
6 그들이 둘 다 주의 모든 명령들과 규례들 안에서 흠 없이 걸으며 하나님 앞에 의로웠는데
7 엘리사벳이 수태하지 못하므로 그들에게는 아이가 없었고 이제 그들이 둘 다 매우 연로하더라.
8 그가 자기 계열의 순서대로 하나님 앞에서 제사장 직무를 수행할 때에
9 제사장 직무의 관례에 따라 제비를 뽑아 그가 주의 성전에 들어가서 분향하게 되었는데
10 백성의 온 무리는 분향하는 시간에 밖에서 기도하더라.
11 주의 천사가 그에게 나타나 분향 제단 오른쪽에 서매
12 사가랴가 그를 보고 불안해하며 두려움에 사로잡혔으나
13 천사가 그에게 이르되, 사가랴야, 두려워하지 말라. 주께서 네 기도를 들으셨느니라. 네 아내 엘리사벳이 네게 아들을 낳으리니 너는 그의 이름을 요한이라 하라.
14 네가 기뻐하고 즐거워할 것이요, 많은 사람들도 그의 태어남을 기뻐하리니
15 이는 그가 주의 눈앞에서 크게 되고 포도즙이나 독주를 마시지 아니하며 참으로 자기 어머니 태에서부터 성령님으로 충만하여
16 이스라엘 자손 중의 많은 자들을 주 그들의 하나님께로 돌아오게 할 것이기 때문이라.
17 또 그가 엘리야의 영과 권능으로 그분보다 앞서가서 아버지들의 마음을 자식들에게 돌아오게 하고 불순종하는 자들을 의인들의 지혜로 돌아오게 하여 주를 위해 예비된 한 백성을 준비하리라, 하니라.
18 사가랴가 천사에게 이르되, 이것을 내가 무엇으로 알리이까? 나는 노인이요 내 아내도 매우 연로하니이다, 하니
