Sermon: What Jesus hates (Luke 11:37-54)

37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.
38 And when the Pharisee saw [it], he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
40 [Ye] fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?
41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.
42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over [them] are not aware [of them].
45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
46 And he said, Woe unto you also, [ye] lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and [some] of them they shall slay and persecute:
50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge [him] vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

37 ¶ 그분께서 말씀하실 때에 어떤 바리새인이 자기와 함께 식사하실 것을 그분께 간청하므로 그분께서 들어가 음식 앞에 앉으셨는데
38 그분께서 식사 전에 먼저 씻지 아니하시는 것을 그 바리새인이 보고 이상히 여기니라.
39 주께서 그에게 이르시되, 지금 너희 바리새인들은 잔과 대접의 겉은 깨끗하게 하지만 너희의 속 부분은 탐욕과 사악함으로 가득하도다.
40 너희 어리석은 자들아, 겉의 것을 만드신 분께서 속의 것도 만들지 아니하셨느냐?
41 오히려 너희가 가진 것들로 구제하라. 그러면, 보라, 모든 것이 너희에게 깨끗하니라.
42 그러나 바리새인들아, 너희에게 화가 있을지어다! 너희가 박하와 운향과 온갖 종류 채소들의 십일조는 드리면서 판단의 공의와 하나님을 향한 사랑은 간과하는도다. 너희가 이것들도 행하였어야 하며 다른 것들도 행하지 않은 채 내버려두지 말아야 하느니라.
43 바리새인들아, 너희에게 화가 있을지어다! 너희가 회당의 맨 윗자리와 시장에서 인사받는 것을 좋아하는도다.
44 서기관들과 바리새인들, 위선자들아, 너희에게 화가 있을지어다! 너희는 마치 드러나지 않는 무덤 같도다. 그래서 사람들이 그 위를 밟고 다니면서도 무덤인 줄 알지 못하느니라, 하시니라.
45 ¶ 그때에 율법사들 중 하나가 그분께 응답하여 이르되, 선생님이여, 그렇게 말씀하심으로써 우리도 모욕하시나이다, 하니
46 그분께서 이르시되, 너희 율법사들아, 너희에게도 화가 있을지어다! 지기에 힘든 짐들을 너희가 사람들에게 지우고 너희 자신은 손가락 하나도 그 짐들에 대지 아니하는도다.
47 너희에게 화가 있을지어다! 너희는 대언자들의 돌무덤을 만들고 너희 조상들은 그들을 죽였도다.
48 그들은 참으로 대언자들을 죽였고 너희는 그들의 돌무덤을 만드나니 진실로 너희가 너희 조상들의 행위를 인정함을 증언하는도다.
49 그러므로 하나님의 지혜도 이르되, 내가 그들에게 대언자들과 사도들을 보낼 터인데 그들이 그 사람들 가운데 몇 사람은 죽이고 핍박하리라, 하였느니라.
50 이로써 세상의 창건 이후로 흘려진 모든 대언자들의 피를 주께서 이 세대에게 요구하시리니
51 곧 아벨의 피로부터 제단과 성전 사이에서 죽은 사가랴의 피까지라. 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 그 피를 주께서 이 세대에게 요구하시리라.
52 율법사들아, 너희에게 화가 있을지어다! 너희가 지식의 열쇠를 빼앗아 너희 자신도 들어가지 아니하고 들어가는 자들도 막았느니라, 하시니라.
53 그분께서 이것들을 그들에게 말씀하실 때에 서기관들과 바리새인들이 그분을 거세게 몰아붙이기 시작하여 그분께서 많은 것을 말씀하시게 하고
54 그분을 기다리며 그분을 고소하기 위해 그분의 입에서 나오는 어떤 것을 붙잡으려 하더라.
