1 Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.
3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:
5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth [it].
9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
Luke 7:1-10
1 이제 그분께서 백성이 듣는 데서 자신의 모든 말씀을 마치신 뒤에 가버나움으로 들어가시니라.
2 어떤 백부장에게 사랑하는 종이 있었는데 그가 병들어 곧 죽게 되었더라.
3 그가 예수님에 대하여 듣고 유대인들의 장로들을 그분께 보내어 그분께서 오셔서 자기 종을 고쳐 주실 것을 그분께 간청하매
4 그들이 예수님께 나아와 절박하게 그분께 간청하여 이르되, 그를 위해 이 일을 하시는 것이 그에게 합당하니이다.
5 그가 우리 민족을 사랑하고 또 우리를 위해 회당을 지었나이다, 하니
6 이에 예수님께서 그들과 함께 가시더라. 이제 그분께서 그 집에서 멀지 않은 곳에 이르렀을 때에 백부장이 친구들을 그분께 보내어 그분께 이르되, [주]여, 친히 수고하지 마옵소서. 주께서 내 지붕 아래로 들어오심을 내가 감당할 자격이 없나이다.
7 그러므로 내 자신이 주께 나아갈 자격도 없는 줄로 생각하였사온즉 오직 한 말씀만 하옵소서. 그러면 내 종이 낫겠나이다.
8 나도 권위 아래 있는 사람이며 내 아래에도 군사들이 있어 내가 이 사람더러, 가라, 하면 그가 가고 저 사람더러, 오라, 하면 그가 오며 내 종더러, 이것을 하라, 하면 그가 그것을 하나이다, 하매
9 예수님께서 이것들을 들으시고 그로 인해 놀라사 주위를 돌아보시며 자기를 따르던 사람들에게 이르시되, 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 이스라엘에서 이렇게 큰 믿음은 내가 결코 보지 못하였노라, 하시니라.
10 보내어진 자들이 집으로 돌아가 보매 앓고 있던 종이 온전하게 되었더라.
