God Is (Part I)

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrew 11:6)

I. God is Real

A. God is the ultimate reality

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

  • God’s self existence, Eternality, Holiness, Omnipotence
  • Sovereignty, OmniScience, Omnipresence

B. God is self-driving

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. (Act 17:28)

• Modern opinion about God
  • God is distant, impersonal being.
  • God is like an angry giant.
  • God is like a heavenly saint.
