Sermon: Four types of hearers of the word of God (Luke 8:4-15)

4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock [are they], which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep [it], and bring forth fruit with patience.
Luke 8:4-15
4 ¶ 모든 도시에서 많은 사람들이 함께 모여 그분께 나아오매 그분께서 비유로 말씀하시되,
5 씨 뿌리는 자가 자기 씨를 뿌리러 나가서 뿌릴 때에 더러는 길가에 떨어지매 밟히고 공중의 날짐승들이 그것을 먹어 버렸고
6 더러는 바위 위에 떨어지매 싹을 냈다가 수분이 부족하므로 곧 시들어 버렸고
7 더러는 가시나무들 사이에 떨어지매 가시나무들이 그것과 함께 돋아나 그것을 숨 막히게 하였고
8 다른 것은 좋은 땅에 떨어지매 싹을 내서 백 배의 열매를 맺었느니라, 하시니라. 그분께서 이것들을 말씀하시고 외치시되, 들을 귀 있는 자는 들을지어다, 하시니라.
9 그분의 제자들이 그분께 여쭈어 이르되, 이 비유는 무엇이니까? 하매
10 그분께서 이르시되, [하나님]의 왕국의 신비들을 아는 것이 너희에게는 허락되었으나 다른 사람들에게는 비유로 되었나니 이것은 그들이 보아도 보지 못하고 들어도 깨닫지 못하게 하려 함이니라.
11 이제 그 비유는 이러하니라. 씨는 [하나님]의 말씀이요,
12 길가에 있는 것들은 말씀을 듣지만 그때에 마귀가 와서 그들의 마음에서 말씀을 빼앗아 가므로 믿지 못하고 구원받지 못하는 자들이니라.
13 바위 위에 있는 것들은 들을 때에 기쁨으로 말씀을 받아들이나 뿌리가 없어 잠시 믿다가 시험의 때에 떨어져 나가는 자들이요,
14 가시나무들 사이에 떨어진 것은 말씀을 듣고 나아가다가 이 세상 삶의 염려와 재물과 쾌락으로 숨이 막혀 완전함에 이르는 열매를 내지 못하는 자들이니라.
15 그러나 좋은 땅에 있는 것은 말씀을 듣고 정직하고 선한 마음속에 그것을 간직하여 인내로 열매를 내는 자들이니라.
